I bought this watch expecting a parts watch, closer inspection it's actually a new old stock watch and I think I can bring it back to its former glory. What is the most common failure of these movements? Is there a method to troubleshoot these movements? I know how to use a VOM. In these cases, I presume the electronics are defective. Tapping it, or flicking the balance wheel does not help. In another ESA 9154 movement I have, or two, changing a battery in the movement does not get it to start. Folks generally collect these because they are arcane and interesting not because they have a great deal of intrinsic value. Esa 9154 is almost identical to the watch you have the test is the same. Service manual attached on page 6 item number 13 is the dampening test. Esa 9150 movement circuit board not stable. ![]()
